On one hand, I’m into Tumblr deciding that it needs several existential emojis to relate to The Kids, because that is the right track, but on the other hand, what? When will I have a conversation and need to quickly and visually convey chakras? Also, why is that dog so bad?

sup nerds it’s an ask meme

There’s a DAI meme regarding inquisitor-as-companion on my dash right now, and I remember this version of a SWTOR character-as-companion meme by worstjediever a while back, so I’m not going to claim credit for this one. But here are some more in-depth questions on the theme of “What would your character be like as a companion?”

  1. Which classes can recruit your character? Are there any other requirements for recruitment (alignment, for instance), and is it easier or harder for specific classes? (Assume a more complex recruitment system than the game currently has.)
  2. Can you flirt or pursue a romance line with this character? (One need not strictly lead to the other.) How does the character react? What’s the storyline like? Which player characters can take these options?
  3. Which other existing companions does this character have notable interactions with? If unromanced, do they enter relationships with other companions? Are they mutually exclusive with any other companions?
  4. Can the player at any time cause this character to leave? Is it possible to get this character killed?
  5. Does this character use any unique companion abilities? (For examples of unique abilities already ingame: Nadia’s Wild Energy AoE, Tharan’s Deploy Holiday stun.)
  6. What kinds of actions gain and lose affection with this character? How much?
  7. What are some notable points in this character’s questline?
  8. What kind of commentary do they offer while following you into different areas?
  9. Do they have specific reactions with class storylines or the endgame storyline?
  10. Are customizations available? What do some of them look like?

Petition to stop using the phrases “hard sciences” and “soft sciences.” Different fields of science shouldn’t be pitted against each other. A hierarchy of importance shouldn’t exist among scientific fields.

Instead use phrases like “physical sciences,” “social sciences,” “life sciences,” “medical sciences,” etc. You better get across what field you’re actually talking about and don’t put down anyone’s work in the process! It’ll take time to make advances in interdisciplinary research, let’s start by leveling the field to make it possible

Remember too that the ‘soft sciences’ weren’t considered soft until women started practicing them in numbers. The delegitimization of a science goes hand in hand with sexism.

that move to reclassify biology as a soft science now that it has more women in it? it’s not sneaky. we can see that shit.
