Morrigan as a Mom Headcanons
I’ve seen several posts about imagining your favorite DA dude as a dad, but can we talk about mom!Morrigan?
- Morrigan holding her crying son for the first time. He’s the means to an end, she thinks, she didn’t even want this child anyway–but he’s hers, for the first time she’s got someone who she can love without reservation.
- The first time he smiles she’s scolding him half-heartedly for throwing his food everywhere, refusing to dip into baby talk even as her voice goes sugary-sweet without her noticing.
- She’s never liked physical contact, but what she does with Kieran can only be described as “cuddling”; she’ll pull him into hugs for no reason, pick him up and carry him even though her arms ache, because she has to know he’s there and he’s okay.
- Morrigan doesn’t have many rules, but what few she has she sticks to: always tell me where you’re going. if you make a mess, you clean it up yourself. no blood magic until you’re at least ten, and then i have to supervise. don’t talk to women you don’t know unless i tell you it’s okay. if a templar bothers you, tell me so i can kick his ass.
- Kieran doesn’t get into fights. He’s not that sort of kid. But if he did, Morrigan would look him dead in the eyes and only ask two questions: “Did he deserve it?” and “Did you win?”
- She reads him stories from the time he’s very small, and when he gets older she teaches him how to read from her favorite books, ones about old legends and myths of how the world was created. She tries to hide how spooked she is when he corrects her about what really happened.
- When Kieran has his bad dreams about being trapped underground, unable to move or breathe or see, Morrigan shows him how to transform into a bird and fly so freely he forgets what it felt like to be trapped.
- She’ll snap at anyone else who gets on her nerves, but she’ll die before she raises her voice or her hand to her son in anger.

“Beauty and love are fleeting and have no meaning. Survival has meaning. Power has meaning. Without those lessons, I would not be here today”

— So you prefer a life of hardship and fear, so long as you believe you aren’t tethered, and free to do as you wish.
— That is so.
