Palawa Joko/Mad King Thorn

The ship is my: Dark and wretched burden to bear. My torch that’s actually just my hand but on fire which technically counts as a torch. The only way that evil, undead kings go unloved is if other evil, undead kings do not love them.

I consider this ship’s feelings: Mutual | Mixed | Strange | Awkward | Platonic | Sibling-like | One-sided | They don’t really like each other |

I’d consider the relationship: Healthy | Awkward | Abusive (though their subjects get the brunt of their abuse) | Doesn’t work properly | They’d never get together |

Children: No (Though maybe Thorn would ask Joko to babysit Prince Edrick, an adult man) | Yes | They’d think about it

General Opinion: This is pretty close to being the dumbest thing I ship and someday I’ll write some fic that’s not crack about it because that’s the real challenge. To make this serious. That or I’ll just stick to awful sex scenes in which they get offended that the other’s semen is candy corn glaze/tar.

Logan/Rytlock

The ship is my:

I consider this ship’s feelings: Mutual | Mixed | Strange | Awkward | Platonic | Sibling-like | One-sided | They don’t really like each other |

I’d consider the relationship: Healthy | Awkward | Abusive | Doesn’t work properly | They’d never get together |

Children: No | Yes | They’d think about it

General Opinion: So I’m pretty sure that Logan is the sole surviving straight person in all of Tyria. That, or his gaydar is extremely broken because he’s been pining after Queen Jennah, the Queen Lesbian for years without ever getting the many hints she’s been dropping his way. Then again, it’s possible he’s cultivating a reputation as only having eyes for an unattainable woman so that he won’t have to take any of his suitors seriously or explain to them why he’s actually in love with a Charr whom he gets into a buncha fights with.

Also Rytlock deserves better. I’m into Rytlock/Canach these days so I feel like if Logan ever wises up, that train’ll already be long and gone. A Tribune can only wait so long, Seraph Commander.

catpella replied to your post “But yeah, majoring in anthropology was probably an especially bad move…”

This is what happens when soc sci is taught in too much of a sci and not enough like humanities

Yeah, anthropology (and all the social sciences) have this weird thing where they’re jealous of all the attention that hard sciences get, so they appropriate the language of science, without actually paying attention to what the terms actually mean in their original context, so it just ends up really confusing and feeling really dishonest if you have any knowledge of science at all. It makes you sound authoritative to laypeople who just hear “Ooh, jargon, this person must know what they’re talking about!” And hard scientists hear it and think “What a bunch of bullshit,” and then make fun of the social sciences more, causing them to get even more jealous and the cycle repeats until it all becomes complete nonsense.

I signed up to learn about people and history and language and culture and stuff, not to get into weird passive-aggressive academic feuds.

catpella replied to your post “HK-47?”

But 4X is kind of terrifying

I’m still dreaming of the day when Bioware makes Mass Effect 4: DESTROY ALL MEATBAGS where it turns out that the Starchild was right, and also that Shepard is a robot, who joins together with HK-47, M1-4X, SCORPIO, T7-01, EDI, Legion, Shale, and any other non-meatbags I missed, and together they destroy all organics and create a robot utopia.
