BEEEEEES

Okay, so I’ve a theory that Bioware has a weird magical crystal ball that zeroes in on ONE SPECIFIC THING that I want and they go to town with it. That’s how Vector Hyllus happened. That’s how Mordin Solus happened. It doesn’t always work very well, as that’s how Doc happened. They heard “flirty altruistic doctor with dumb facial hair” and made it into a monster.

Obsidian has it too, and that’s why Caesar is a former linguistic anthropologist, specifically to make him my evil counterpart. How many linguistic anthropologists do you know in fiction? How many of them are actually specifically in it for the linguistics, and not just an omnidisciplinary anthropologist of some kind who only knows languages as necessary to the plot? As a rule, Obsidian has a much clearer view of what I like, since Bioware keeps doing shitty things I don’t want them to do.

When DA:I began development, they consulted the Magic Crystal Ball Into My Mind and were expecting to hear something really fucking weird, the way that it was with Vector, and they just heard “BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS” and were like “Well shit, we can’t have yet ANOTHER love interest from a bee hive. Guess we’ll have to find another way to put them in, in a more pure form.”

Hence: The Jar Of Bees.
